VISTA 2020 has multiple levels of security, allowing sensitive information to be shared by those with authorized security. Authorization is determined by the project administrator and is based on the roles of the project participants. Users within the system are assigned a specific level which determines their access to project materials.

In addition to role based security, levels of security may be defined within the system, giving the project administrator flexibility to assign a security level for each document, depending on its sensitivity.
